J. J. Jazzmen & Barbora Vágnerová

J. J. Jazzmen vznikli počinem trombonisty Jana Jiruchy v roce 1993, od r. 2006 kapelu vede matador české jazzové scény, bubeník Miloš Kejř. Kapela si zakládá na "Contemporary New Orleans Sound" v obsazení trumpeta (Jiří Masáček), trombon (Josef Pospíšil), piano (Zdeněk Kalhous), kontrabas (Jan Greifoner), bicí (Miloš Kejř), a tato pětice instrumentalistů doprovází fantastickou zpěvačku Barboru Vágnerovou. V nedávné minulosti s J. J. Jazzmen hostovali jazzová esa z New Orleans a z New Yorku: Joe Muranyi, Tom McDermott, Mike Fulton, a letos Jon-Erik Kellso.
J. J. Jazzmen wurde 1993 von dem Posaunisten Jan Jirucha gegründet, seit 2006 wird die Band von dem Matador der tschechischen Jazzszene, dem Schlagzeuger Miloš Kejř, geleitet. Die Band basiert auf dem "Contemporary New Orleans Sound" mit Trompete (Jiří Masáček), Posaune (Josef Pospíšil), Klavier (Zdeněk Kalhous), Kontrabass (Jan Greifoner), Schlagzeug (Miloš Kejř), und diese fünf Instrumentalisten begleiten die fantastische Sängerin Barbora Vágnerová. In der jüngeren Vergangenheit waren Jazz-Asse aus New Orleans und New York bei den J. J. Jazzmen zu Gast: Joe Muranyi, Tom McDermott, Mike Fulton, und dieses Jahr Jon-Erik Kellso.
J. J. Jazzmen was founded by trombonist Jan Jirucha in 1993, since 2006 the band has been led by the matador of the Czech jazz scene, drummer Miloš Kejř. The band is based on the "Contemporary New Orleans Sound" with the trumpet (Jiří Masáček), trombone (Josef Pospíšil), piano (Zdeněk Kalhous), double bass (Jan Greifoner), drums (Miloš Kejř), and these five instrumentalists accompany the fantastic singer Barbora Vágnerová. In the recent past, jazz aces from New Orleans and New York have guested with the J. J. Jazzmen: Joe Muranyi, Tom McDermott, Mike Fulton, and this year Jon-Erik Kellso.

Swing Kong Dance Orchestra je nedávno vzniklý big band, který svým vzezřením, zvukem dobových nástrojů, frázováním i rytmem jakož i výběrem repertoáru dokáže dokonale navodit atmosféru harlemských tančíren, kde se zrodil lindy hop. Čistokrevný taneční swing přelomu 30. a 40. let, inspirovaný velikány jako Benny Goodman, Jimmie Lunceford, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Chick Webb, Cab Calloway a dalšími, vás zaručeně zvedne ze židle. Známé skladby z tohoto období v originálních i vlastních aranžích i pár vlastních skladeb v dobovém stylu potěší tanečníky i posluchače. Orchestr je vytvořen výhradně ze zkušených muzikantů, z nichž více než polovina jsou aktivními lindy hoppery, které potkáte i na parketu!
Swing Kong Dance Orchestra ist eine neu gegründete Bigband im Stil der 1930er Jahre mit Sitz in Brünn, Tschechien, die darauf abzielt, Swingmusik im Stil der 1930er Jahre mit authentischem Sound, stetigem Tanzrhythmus und mitreißenden Arrangements zu spielen, die sowohl traditionelle Jazzliebhaber (die sie sind) als auch begeistern wird sowie Lindy Hopper und andere Swingtänzer (das sind sie auch). Zu ihren größten Influencern zählen die Orchester von Jimmie Lunceford, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Chick Webb, Cab Calloway, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, Harry James und vielen anderen aus der Zeit der 1930er und frühen 1940er Jahre - die Ära, als der Lindy Hop geboren wurde. Zu guter Letzt, finden sie nicht auch, dass sie in ihren maßgeschneiderten Anzügen auf der Bühne großartig aussehen? Sie müssen sie einfach live sehen!
Swing Kong Dance Orchestra is a newly established 1930s style big band based in Brno, Czech Republic, which aims to play 1930s style swing music with authentic sound, steady dancing rhythm and stirring arrangements that will excite both traditional jazz lovers (that they are) as well as lindy hoppers and other swing dancers (that they are, too). Amongst theirs greatest influencers are the orchestras of Jimmie Lunceford, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Chick Webb, Cab Calloway, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, Harry James, and many more, from the era of 1930s and early 1940s - the era when the lindy hop was born. Pilsner Jazz Band

Za 14 let své existence se kapela stala stálicí české swingové scény. Je pravidelným účastníkem festivalů po celé ČR i v mnohých evropských zemích (Švédsko, Švýcarsko, Lotyšsko, Polsko, Německo, ...), v lednu 2020 sklízel band úspěch v USA (Virginia, Washington D.C., New York). Jádrem repertoáru jsou proaranžované swingové skladby orchestrů Duke Ellingtona, Counta Basieho i Glenna Millera, nechybí však i dixieland tzv. chicagského stylu. Předloni vydala kapela své již čtvrté CD, záznam z koncertu ve Washingtonu - Live at the Kennedy Center. Pilsner Jazz Band je pořadatelem Lindy Hop Herbst Campu, zároveň též Mezinárodního dixielandového festivalu Plzeň i pravidelných swingových tančíren "Po siréně swing!".
In den 14 Jahren ihres Bestehens hat sich die Band zu einem festen Bestandteil der tschechischen Swingszene entwickelt. Sie nimmt regelmäßig an Festivals in der ganzen Tschechischen Republik und in vielen europäischen Ländern (Schweden, Schweiz, Lettland, Polen, Deutschland, ...) teil, im Januar 2020 hatte die Band große Erfolge in den USA (Virginia, Washington DC, New York). Den Kern des Repertoires bilden arrangierte Swing-Kompositionen von Orchestern von Duke Ellington, Count Basie und Glenn Miller, aber auch ein Dixieland des sogenannten Chicago-Stils. Vorletztes Jahr veröffentlichte die Band ihre vierte CD, eine Aufnahme von einem Konzert in Washington - Live at the Kennedy Center. Pilsner Jazz Band ist Veranstalter des Lindy Hop Herbst Camps, sowie des Internationalen Dixieland Festival Pilsen und regelmäßiger Swingtanzabenden "After the siren swing!".
In the 14 years of its existence, the band has become an integral part of the Czech swing scene. They regularly take part in festivals all over the Czech Republic and in many European countries (Sweden, Switzerland, Latvia, Poland, Germany, ...), in January 2020 the band had great success in the USA (Virginia, Washington DC, New York). The core of the repertoire consists of arranged swing compositions by orchestras by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller, but also a Dixieland of the so-called Chicago style. In 2021 the band released their fourth CD, a recording from a concert in Washington - Live at the Kennedy Center. Pilsner Jazz Band is the organizer of the Lindy Hop Herbs Camp, as well as the International Dixieland Festival Pilsen and regular swing dance evenings "After the siren swing!".

The Cricketz

Žánrově velmi originální plzeňská kapela The Cricketz hraje hudbu amerického jihozápadu, kombinaci swingu, dixielandu, blues a folku. Tito ostřílení jazzmeni se zkušenostmi z dalších úspěšných plzeňských kapel kapelu The Cricketz směřují do stylu, který nemá v Česku obdoby - tzv. western-swing je v Česku raritou, ale zejména v USA velmi populárním směrem. Inspirují se repertoárem zpěváka, kytaristy a showmana Pokeyho LaFarge, ale vybírají i z standardů swingových a dixielandových klasik. To prokládají fláky ryze českými - od Ježka přes Kainara a Mládka po Bluesberry/Krausberry. Předák kapely Roman Zdebor tak zpívá jak anglicky, tak česky. Někteří z nich jsou nejen jazzovými hudebníky, ale rovněž vášnivými swingovými tanečníky. Snad i proto je styl a výraz kapely tolik sympatický tanečníkům, tempa jsou rozmanitá - od blues přes lindy-hop po charleston, balboa a shag.
The Cricketz, eine sehr originelle Band aus Pilsen, spielt die Musik des amerikanischen Südwestens, eine Kombination aus Swing, Dixieland, Blues und Folk. Diese erfahrenen Jazzer mit Erfahrungen aus anderen erfolgreichen Pilsener Bands führen The Cricketz in einen Stil, der in der Tschechischen Republik beispiellos ist - der so genannte Western-Swing ist in Tschechien eine Seltenheit, aber vor allem in den USA eine sehr beliebte Richtung. Sie lassen sich vom Repertoire des Sängers, Gitarristen und Showman Pokey LaFarge inspirieren, wählen aber auch aus den Standards des Swing und der Dixieland-Klassiker. Dazwischen liegen rein tschechische Melodien - von Ježek über Kainar und Mládek bis hin zu Bluesberry/Krausberry. Der Frontmann der Band, Roman Zdebor, singt sowohl auf Englisch als auch auf Tschechisch. Einige von ihnen sind nicht nur Jazzmusiker, sondern auch leidenschaftliche Swing-Tänzer. Vielleicht ist der Stil und der Ausdruck der Band deshalb so ansprechend für Tänzer, denn die Tempi sind abwechslungsreich - von Blues über Lindy-Hop bis zu Charleston, Balboa und Shag.
The Cricketz, a very original band from Pilsen, plays the music of the American southwest, a combination of swing, dixieland, blues and folk. These experienced jazzmen, with experience from other successful Pilsen bands, are steering The Cricketz into a style that is unique in the Czech Republic - western-swing is a rarity in Czechia, but a very popular style especially in the USA. They are inspired by the repertoire of singer, guitarist and showman Pokey LaFarge, but they also choose from the standards of swing and dixieland classics. This is interspersed with purely Czech tunes - from Ježek to Kainar and Mládek to Bluesberry/Krausberry. The band's frontman Roman Zdebor sings both in English and Czech. Some of them are not only jazz musicians, but also passionate swing dancers. Perhaps that is why the band's style and expression is so appealing to dancers, the tempos are varied - from blues to lindy-hop to charleston, balboa and shag.
